Join the Smoky Mountain Wheelmen for a short but brisk bike ride along some classic South Knoxville roads. Expect beautiful scenery, rolling hills, challenging climbs and a good time.
The Smoky Mountain Wheelmen Bike Club was established in 1973 as a nonprofit 501 C Organization to promote and encourage cycling in all its phases. Their mission is to make available to cyclists of all abilities, the opportunity to participate in appropriate year round cycling activities.
The Route: This ride will begin at Ijams quarry. The group ride will head south towards Burnett Creek Road, loop out east on Kimberlin Heights and Deaderick Road before heading back to Ijams along Sevierville Pike, Fordtown Road, and Burnett Creek again.
Mileage: This bike ride will cover 15 miles roundtrip. All riders must be comfortable riding on public roads in a group at a reasonably fast pace (15 mph average). Even though many of the roads on the route are low traffic, riders must also be comfortable sharing the road with cars.
